The contract signing ceremony will be held on Thursday 17th December 2015 at Serena Hotel from 4:30 pm.
Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC), negotiated a project with Culligan International, EACA to increase water production in Kigali City. The project aligns with the Government of Rwanda’s policy objectives delineated in its Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy II (EDPRS II) to achieve universal access to water and sanitation, and to improve the quality of water consumed.
Therefore, with the Support from the Ministry of Infrastructure, as well as the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, the Water and Sanitation Corporation Ltd (WASAC) is working on a plan to develop and implement projects that will ensure company efficiency and guarantee delivery of adequate and quality water services to the people of Kigali and its outskirts. This has culminated into identification and development of a mega water production project with forwarding infrastructure intended to increase production capacity from 65,000m3/day to 120,000m3/day and hence bridge the water demand gap for Kigali which stands at 45,000 m3/day. The project which will be implemented by Culligan International EACA is expected to be completed in less than 12 months from the date of contract signature.
Water and Sanitation Corporation is a utility sufficiently focused to deliver new infrastructure; efficient and effective service delivery; build a strong people capability; and meet key national milestones. It is expected to reverse the status quo that includes inadequate planning and investments; inefficient and wasteful operations; inadequate institutional management focus; improve viability and autonomy; and establish a sustainable and customer-centric utility to deliver an important mandate that touches people of all walks of life.
