To ensure 100% access to clean water by 2024, over 436 million US Dollars have been so far invested in Rwanda Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program (RSWSSP). WASAC Ltd had initially gained investment of 282 million USD allocated in water and sanitation projects in City of Kigali and the satellite cities of Rubavu, Rusizi, Nyagatare, Muhanga, Huye, Musanze as well as Karongi town.
The 154.166 million USD additional financing launched on 28th February 2019 include Additional African Development Bank (ADB) loan (USD 133.132m) and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Initiative Trust Fund (RWSSI-TF) grant (EUR 0.800m) will cover 27.74% of the total program financing while the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) will co-finance the additional scope with an envelope of USD 20.000 million

According to Dominique Murekezi Coordinator of WASAC-SPIU, the additional financing will cover water supply infrastructure in areas that were not included in the initial financing of the program mainly in remote areas.
In her remarks during the launch, KAYITESI Marceline who represented the Ministry of Infrastructure insisted on the objective of the Government of Rwanda of improving social welfare of Rwandans. He urged all people implicated in the implementation of the program to be characterized by speed and efficiency in their work and make sure that the target is achieved.

According to Eng. Aimé MUZOLA the CEO of WASAC Ltd, the technical launch means the beginning of real works. “It’s now time to go to the field and work” said the CEO who asserted to complete the financed projects within 2 years. He displayed the sureness of a great contribution of the financed projects to the social economic contribution of the country.
